Privacy on your document shelf

Effective September 29, 2026

This page applies to net.inkstone.shelf.documentviewer, displayed as Document Viewer - File Manager.

Device shelf access

Android's All files access switch enables the primary shelf to discover, open, and manage compatible documents and selected APK packages throughout shared storage. Names, paths, sizes, and document content are processed locally and the grant can be removed in system settings.

Bookmark journal

Folder-tree URIs selected through Android are written to a small JSON file in private app storage. Removing a shelf bookmark deletes its journal entry and requests release of that persisted grant.

Reading work

Document parsing, PDF contact images, and legacy text extraction occur locally. Temporary render bitmaps are kept in memory for the active reading session and are not submitted to a publisher service.

Files you create

Text-to-PDF and image-to-PDF tools write only to the destination selected in Android's save dialog. The app does not keep a second cloud copy.

Removal and package dispatch

Source deletion is requested only after the user checks leaves and confirms. APK dispatch creates a private cache copy solely so the system installer can read the selected package.

No monetized collection

No advertising identifier, usage analytics, account record, or remote document payload is gathered by this version.
